Miss Apco Marioiosefo Lesinaivalu was crowned Miss Vodafone Hibiscus Teen Queen on Wednesday.
The 11 contestants decked out in their beautiful traditional attire on the Bogi- ni –i-Taukei theme night for the finale with the Queen Teen’s crowning.
Chief guest at the ceremony was the Assistant Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment, Lorna Eden.
In her opening address Ms Eden said there was an appalling rise in the death toll on the roads in a small Island country like Fiji.
She said if only people adhered to road rules there would be less road accidents.
“We should support the talents of our children, and not ridicule them with negative comments but with encouraging words,” said Ms Eden.
Miss Lesinaivalu was also presented the Miss Humanitarian Award as well as the Best Talent Award.
The theme for this year’s Vodafone Hibiscus Festival is ‘Road safety is everyone’s responsibility’.
