Miss Fiji Pageant

The first ever Miss Fiji pageant, which brings together winners from 10 municipality pageants vying for the opportunity to represent Fiji at the Miss Pacific Island Pageant, will be held in October  from 17th – 24th 2015 in Nadi.

This was announced by the Hibiscus Group Event Inc. (HEGI) Chairperson, Mr Hirdesh Prasad at the 2015 Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus crowning evening. Mr Prasad will also chair the Miss Fiji pageant 2015 committee.

“The discussion to hold the Miss Fiji Pageant has been ongoing for the last five years,” said Mr Prasad.

Mr Prasad acknowledged the support of the Fijian Government and the Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure & Transport, Mr Parveen Bala Kumar’s support for having a national pageant that would select Fiji’s representative to the Miss Pacific Island Pageant this year.

He also thanked the Suva City Council for supporting HEGI’s participation in the 2015 Miss Fiji pageant.

In the past, the trend was that the winner of the Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus Queen category represented Fiji to the Miss Pacific Island Pageant. However, with the introduction of the Miss Fiji Pageant, each winner of district or each municipal council’s pageant winners will compete to represent Fiji at the regional pageant.

Miss Carpenters Fiji Ltd, Ms Marie Fall, who is the crowned 2015 Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus Queen, will represent Suva at the Miss Fiji pageant later in the year.
